Amanora is a shining example says Deshmukh — Times
Date: 10/3/2008
Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Friday said that development of Amanora Township is an example of public-private partnership. If townships are developed with local participation, the schemes would not run into opposition. He was in Pune to inaugurate the first school inside the Amanora township at Hadapsar. Amanora is the first township approved by the State Government after introduction of the policy. The Township Policy's implementation would lead to provision of affordable homes. Mr. R R Patil said that cities are expanding in a disorderly manner but pressure on existing infrastructure would not happen if townships with proper infrastructure are developed. Housing is one of the basic needs and new construction had not gained momentum due to the Urban Land Ceiling, 1976 and Rent Control Acts 1999. The township policy was a solution to both, he said.

Development must not pinch citizens: CM

Date: 10/3/2008

Development of special townships in the state would speed up if they are developed through public-private partnership, by taking local citizens into confidence and ensuring their involvement in the development process, said Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Friday. Inaugurating the Pawar Public School at Amanora Park Town in Hadapsar, Deshmukh said that if the problems of local residents and stakeholders are taken into consideration, then new and upcoming townships would face no opposition. The function was attended by Union Minister for Agriculture, Sharad Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister, R R Patil, Water Resources and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar and Managing Director of City Corporation Ltd. Aniruddha Deshpande. The chairperson of Pawar Public Charitable Trust and Rajya Sabha MP Supriya Sule gave the welcome address. Normally, at the inauguration of township projects, local landowners have a list of complaints and want them to be addressed first. But, at Amanora Park Town, the first to be sanctioned by the State as per the Special Township Policy, the developers have ensured that the locals benefitted from the development in the area and that they got employment opportunities. Speaking on the occasion R R Patil said Pune would grow in a disciplined manner because of townships.
