| Amanora Park Town and ALERT announce first ever Green Leader Award 2010 | |||||||||||

Pune, June 05, 2010 - Amanora Park Town, the first township being developed by City Corporation Limited under Special Township Policy of Government of Maharashtra, in association with ALERT, an NGO for the cause of creating awareness on global warming; today hosted an event to celebrate World Environment Day on the 5th of June 2010 at the Temple of Environment at Amanora in Pune. The aim of the event was to bring outstanding citizens/leaders/corporate of the society together in order to foster mutual understanding towards aiming for a cleaner, more environments friendly and less carbon print/emissions city, by way of discussion, example, education and increased awareness amongst those in attendance. The event held in association with ALERT included 'Green Leader Awards 2010' to reward corporate and others who have been active in environment, protection and conservation. | Abhijit Ghorpade, Journalist - Through his columns and articles in the print media he has taken initiative to create awareness and educate the citizens on matters of great concern and importance. The indepth study of the topic on which the article is written is a rare quality these days. Through his columns and books he has reached out to thousands of people and made them aware on issues of grave severity. Jugal Rathi - He is one of the rare personalities who practices what he preaches. It is indeed very commendable that since the past many years he has been traveling in the city on the bicycle and has been promoting the use of cycles amongst citizens. Nandkumar Gulabrao Ghule - He is a progressive farmer & grass root environmentalist. He believes in Earth is like mother, organic farming, farmer's prosperity and creating environmental friendly village. The award giving ceremony was preceded with various speakers like Mr. Jeetendra Mali (DSK Toyota), Mrs Vandana Chavan talking about environment, protection and conservation. The attendees witnessed entertainment on the 'Environment' theme. There was a performance by Rocky Poonawala and the Pixel painting by Manohar Desai was a very novel idea. The event was attended by dignitaries like The Mayor of P.M.C. Mr. Mohansingh Rajpal, Mr. Bahri Malhotra, Lila Poonawala, Meera Borwankar, Deepak Shikarpur and Balasaheb Patwardhan . |

| About Amanora Park Town: Amanora Park Town is the first township being developed by City Corporation Limited under the Special Township Policy of the Government of Maharashtra. The developers will be responsible for maintenance of all public utilities making them more efficient for hassle-free living. Located at Hadapsar, Amanora Park Town is spread over 400 acres and will be a self containing property having schools, college, hospital, restaurants and sports complex within the township. | About ALERT ALERT (Association for earning Education Research and Training) is a networking initiative which has embarked upon creating awareness on global warming amongst various stakeholder groups, since 5th June 2007. ALERT has been responsible in establishing dialogue with the government at all levels to persuade policy change for mitigation and adaptation. ALERT has reached out to several colleges, corporate and organizations through its more than 300 presentations. Spearheaded by Ms. Vandana Chavan, MLC and former Mayor Pune, ALERT now has targeted groups of decision and policy makers, social workers and also the most vulnerable groups – the poor.
